Infinity Plays With The Sands of Time

from Picture Postcards by C.D. Onofrio

about

"Infinity Plays with the Sands of Time" was the first thing that I heard in my head after my breathe had returned after first viewing the Grand Canyon

lyrics

wind blows heavy on my hand
I am swept across the land
like the blowing stones and sand
I am shaped and shaped again

if I reach a higher plane
will I soon forget the pain
some things lost are some things gained
in these blowing winds of change

somethings grow and some things fold
some things show and some things don't
we are living out the patterns of our life
I am standing in the sun
in the shadow of my gun
Oh I ---- infinity plays with the sands of time

in the sunshine's gifted gaze
I am sandstone taking shape
sculpted by these very days
til my skull is all remains

light carves shadows on the stone
as my hand begins a song
patterns played upon these strings
turn to notes the singer sings

some things grow and some things fold
some things show and some things don't
we are living out the patterns of our life
I am standing in the sun
in the shadow
Oh my God
Infinity plays with the sands of time

and I've been stranded in this city
I've been branded in this city
I come open handed to this city
cause there's got to be a way
