I found the moon

from Picture Postcards by C.D. Onofrio

about

this track, the moon kissed down to me one night on my bike --- full lipped and lazy i dropped to the dewy grass and ran my fingers through the stars.

lyrics

a signal from the moon, I must've imagined cause it winked at me and blew a kiss my way, a star dust kiss that fell like glitter in the night and it tasted like this, like cherry, fresh off the tree on a summer's eve, it was sweet like you're sweet, the kind of sweet that lingers, lick it off your fingers, i say finder's keepers

i found the moon tonight, hiding in your sunlight, i found the moon tonight
but i know better now, i know to let it go. I know better now to let it go

the trees wave their hands at me as i start my day, starting up my car, go real far, finish up a job, then i come home in the afternoon --- sitting in my living room, without a single thing to do, started writing you a poem, then i put it in my pocket, then i forgot what it said cause it left my head
but when i lay down to bed, i'll recite it by heart, i'll recite it like a piece of art, for an old friend, something that'll never end.
